Description: One of the best strategies/skills to help students comprehend a text that is above their independent reading level is to the use of context. The first half of this double-session will be explicit instruction on the kinds of context clues, as well as the local and global coherence of text. During the second half of the session, participants will use the information presented on context to prepare materials for their instruction. Participants must bring a consumable copy of several readings that they will be using in their upcoming instruction.
